Taking an active interest in Passivhaus

The presentation, which takes place on 20 March in Gallery Rooms 4 & 5, will provide attendees with an overview of the Saint-Gobain Isover Multi-Comfort concept construction principles. 

I’ll be presenting from 16.40 – 17.00 so if you’re heading to Ecobuild next week don’t forget to include it in your exhibition planner. In the meantime, here’s some Multi-Comfort and Passivhaus facts to whet your appetite:

• A home built to Passivhaus standards can eliminate up to 90 per cent of traditional household energy costs
• In winter, it is entirely possible to heat a 20m² room in a Passivhaus or Multi-Comfort house with just ten tea lights or two 100 watt bulbs
• In a Multi-Comfort house optimal room temperatures of 20˚C are maintained all year round with minimal use of active heating
• The energy demands of a Multi-Comfort house can be as low as 1.5 litres of heating oil or 15kWh per metre square per year for a typical one-family house, compared with 30 litres of heating oil or 300kWh per square metre per year for a completely insufficiently insulated home

It’s not just for houses

The real beauty of the Isover Multi-Comfort concept – apart from the incredible energy savings they deliver – is that it can be applied to any building style and is suitable for use in both new and retrofit construction, domestic and commercial.
