'Steel Details' is a guide to the issues and technicalities of steelwork design and its constructional practice. Produced by BCSA - the British Constructional Steelwork Association - for a wide audience including engineers and subcontractors, the architect will need to cherry-pick from the first half of the book. Sections on specific detailing issues such as acoustics and cladding connections are most immediately useful.

The second half will be familiar territory, comprising 22 case studies based around AJ Working Details from 2000-2005, including Rogers' Barajas Airport in Madrid. Contact BCSA (www. steelconstruction. org), publication 41/05, 186pp, £55.
