That sort of stereotyping is faintly politically incorrect these days, but if it's funny, who cares? Liverpool's victory in the bid to become European City of Culture has sparked off a few old favourites, along the lines of: 'Why do you keep going back to Liverpool?'
'Because I want to be re-united with my hubcaps'. Oh dear. But Astragal did like the proposition about forthcoming cultural change in the city: 'When you drive there in 2008, you'll still get your wheels pinched, but they'll prop the car up on . . . books'.
