Ideal husband

astragal

Sorry to see dear old Barry Bucknell is no longer with us, though surviving until 91 is good going for a DIY fiend. A marvellous obit in the Guardian noted that his favoured clothing, dark trousers with striped shirt and collar, made him a reassuring figure to 50s and 60s television audiences, numbering six million at their peak. He wore cardigans for outdoors work. As a pacifist, he refused to do wartime army service and worked as a fireman instead. Incidentally, the Primrose Hill patch that belonged to the Bucknell family for many years has been transformed into an amazing house by Paxton Locher.
