Herringbone Houses by Alison Brooks Architects

Wandsworth, London

These two 400sqm 'urban woodland' houses are sited in a backlands plot overlooking a bowling green. The herringbone cladding reuses a traditional flooring pattern as a rainscreen facade, which created an illusion of accordion-like folded surfaces. Light filled atriums form the heart of the houses with high-ceilinged living spaces opening on to terraces and balconies.
