HENRY DOUBLEDAY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION, WARWICKSHIRE

UK ARCHITECTURE - SUSTAINABILITY

Offices for this internationally renowned horticultural charity are on a 8ha site in Warwickshire. The focus of the project was to deliver sustainable architecture throughout. The office building consists of a green oak frame and an exposed concrete-slab structure. Junctions were made using steel flitch plates. Concrete elements provide thermal mass for stability during both summer and winter.

The building is orientated for active solar gain and, where possible, materials have been sourced locally.
