Happy to take the credit for Leeds station design

In response to 'Step forward, please, Leeds station designers' (AJ 16.1.03), we at EGS Design Architects, Manchester, accept the compliment, being the designer. We were the conceptual architects and then took the scheme through planning and detail design to completion.

Project architects were Clive Mainwaring, Stephen Oliver, and Bill Hibbert, with technicians John Kilgariff and Paul Marshall.

Halcrow UK was the consultant engineer led by Steve Hogg.

Construction was by Birse on a D & B contract. The roof package was carried out by Wates on a separate D & B package.

I would like to take this opportunity to say that the practice has been working 'quietly but steadily' on many large projects for a long time. These range from GMEX, Manchester Piccadilly train station to Eccles Bus Interchange (all award winners), and are currently involved with the refurbishment of Liverpool Lime Street station. These, among a great many other projects of varying sizes and scope, continue to be the mainstay of a well-established and progressive practice.
