Guardian for ward

Astragal is much concerned to hear about the potentially precarious position of Mary Ward House in Tavistock Place (AJ 2.8.89), which was sold last year and is now up for sale again. Despite its status as a Grade I listed building, Smith and Brewer's 1898 masterpiece is in danger of becoming a 'building at risk' unless it gets into good hands. The Mary Ward House Trust, which acts as a watchdog for the building and includes such luminaries as Adrian Forty and Alan Powers, is on a mission to secure a suitably sympathetic owner. Interested parties should contact Knight Frank, which is handling the sale.
