Another example of unexpected gracelessness following staff departure came from the unlikely personage of Will Alsop, in the wake of the Alsop practice financial restructure.

Is there some new protocol among big-time architects which decrees that when someone leaves, they are said never to have designed anything for the practice? That is the treatment that Ken Shuttleworth seems to have received over Swiss Re, and now Christophe Egret and David West over various projects.

Since Norman and Will have been generous to the profession in many ways, one can only hope the recent unpleasantness is a blip and not a condition.
