These are the first images of a new 67-apartment development by gm + ad in the emerging Queen's Park residential quarter, south of Glasgow city centre. The 4,200m 2 scheme in Victoria Road for developers Forrestgate Developments - Scotland's self-proclaimed answer to Urban Splash - has just been submitted for planning. Forrestgate originally asked RMJM to draw up proposals for the prominent gateway site; however, despite winning planning permission for the scheme, the developer decided to ditch the designs and asked gm + ad to come up with an alternative. A mix of one- and twobedroom flats, the new L-shaped proposals will be finished in 'warm brickwork' to contrast with the white-rendered buildings neighbouring the development. The designs also include plans for a 'light copper and glass box' on top of the block which will cantilever out over Victoria Road. Work is expected to start on site in late spring and the development is due for completion in 2009.
