Gavron condemns Tate Tower plans

Nicky Gavron, Labour's candidate for mayor of London, has condemned Philip Gumuchdjian's Tate Tower, adding her voice to the row surrounding the controversial scheme.

She named the 20-storey tower as her 'blunder' in the Guardian's Wonders and Blunders column on Monday, calling it 'a terrible example of a greedy developer maximising profit to the detriment of the public realm'.

Gavron told the AJ she would like to see a competition for a new public realm solution for the site.
