Construction has started on Foster and Partners' Vivaldi twin towers in Amsterdam. The 87m-high, 24storey offices have a structural steel diagrid clad in silver aluminium over dark-glazed cladding panels that leave the diagrid to dominate in scaling the building. Floorplates are 12.6m clear-span deep, 600m 2 overall. Completion is scheduled for March 2007.
