Now in its third year, World Green Building week features events ranging from walking tours of Sydney’s Green Star-rated buildings to tree planting in South Africa. In the Netherlands where the green agenda is gaining momentum, over 100 events are taking place this week.

To mark the occasion, the UK-GBC has released a scorecard grading ‘the greenest government’ ever across a number of issues. It makes for an interesting read: the Green Deal gets a generous B -, while progress on ‘zero carbon new homes’ is graded E -!

UK-GBC executive director Paul King will be in conversation Thursday with former Manchester United footballer Gary Neville who will discuss his journey to build an eco-home near Bolton; Neville has abandoned his Make-designed home in favour of a prefabricated home by Architekturbüro Lowe.

Among the numerous events hosted by UK-GBC members are ScottBrownrigg’s presentation of its new complex for the King’s Troop Royal Artillery in Woolwich and a session at Nicholas Hare Architects on sustainable retrofit which features a case study of the Arup Building, a 1960s building in Cambridge.
