Ashden Awards 2013 launched
Call for green construction innovators - deadline 30 October 2012
National green awards scheme Ashden is seeking sustainable pioneers for its 2013 awards. Founded in 2001, the programme champions practical and local energy solutions that cut carbon, protect the environment and improve lives. Ashden have since supported over 140 individuals and companies across the UK and internationally. Previous winners include Architype, the Centre for Alternative Technology and the National Trust. This year for the first time the awards are also open to UK businesses that significantly reduce consumption or boost effectiveness of energy generation.
Next June, 13 winners will awarded a total of £40,000 in prize money. For successful applicants, the awards have also become a platform for further project development through the Ashden Alumni Network.
Ashden Founder Director Sarah Butler-Sloss said: ‘While we normally only award businesses or programmes that have been up and running for at least a year, this year we are particularly interested in hearing about innovative technologies, products or services already on the market that have the potential to scale up and result in significant carbon savings.’
