Footballers' guides

technical & practice - letters

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund has joined forces with the Football Licensing Authority to publish a new series of guidance documents covering a range of design and management issues at stadia.

The first guide is entitled Facilities for Disabled Spectators at Stadia and is in its final drafting stages.

The intention is to replace Designing for Spectators with Disabilities (issued in 1992 by the Football Stadia Advisory Design Council) and update it to encompass the Disability Discriminations Act 1995; the latest revisions to Part M of the Building Regulations; the 1997 Football Task Force report, Improving Facilities for Disabled Supporters; and other matters of concern at stadia, including viewing standards.

To facilitate public consultation, a draft of the new guide is available at www.

footballfoundation. org. uk. We have already contacted many parties with a special interest in the subject areas, including access groups, stadia architects, project managers, associations and institutions. Should anyone wish to make representations, please contact me on 020 7534 4210 or email steves@footballfoundation. org. uk before 11 April.
