Food for thought

astragal

Every year at MIPIM, it is particularly interesting to watch how the different cities market themselves. Last year Liverpool was the most predictable, with a visit from former footballing great Alan Hanson and a Beatles cover band.

Talk about living in the past. This year our friends north of the border held a bizarre event entitled 'A Taste of Scotland'. Those attending could have been excused for thinking this was an opportunity to sample a little high-quality Scottish smoked salmon. Oh no. Weirdly, it was Irn Bru and shortcake all round. There must be a more imaginative way of marketing Scotland's potential to the world than sickly soft drinks and biscuits?

What will they pick next year?

Tennent's Super and haggis?
