We were looking through the AJ as usual last week and saw the book review by Murray Fraser mentioning a monograph by Rupert Spade (AJ 01.03.07). This was one of my father Martin Pawley's pseudonyms. Rupert was taken from a Seven Years War cavalry commander and Spade from Sam Spade, the Dashiell Hammett detective hero!
