Drive time

I was interested to read that, in a survey of creativity and innovation within the UK, one in five architects and surveyors claimed to be at their most creative when asleep, while 16 per cent reported having their 'eureka!' the moment their heads hit the pillows. Most admit, however, that they are more likely to have a brainwave while fully awake - some time before lunch, to be precise. Vauxhall, which commissioned the research, has managed to read plenty of significance into the fact that three-quarters of respondents come up with innovative ideas while at the wheel. Not only does it show that cars are turning into mobile think-tanks for British business, it also suggests we should stop complaining about congestion and be grateful for the extra thinking time.
