Construction Week on time and to budget

Consulting engineers Ove Arup and Oscar Faber Group, and contractors Galliford, Wates Construction and Westbury, will be among the companies inviting inspection as part of Construction Week, which kicks off next Monday. They are opening their doors as part of the cbi-led 'Fit for the Future' campaign, run in partnership with the Construction Industry Board and Inside uk Enterprise.

A total of 12 construction companies will be welcoming members of other industries to discuss improvements to profitability, competitiveness, staff morale and quality. Also as part of Construction Week, which runs from 19-26 April, 12 workshops will be held around the country covering the 63 best-practice areas defined in 'Fit for the Future'.

Other events in National Construction Week include radio interviews, school competitions and site visits. National Construction Week is a Construction Industry Board initiative and is sponsored by Hanson, Blue Circle Industries and the Major Contractors Group.

Architecture Week, run by the Arts Council and riba, takes place between 5 and 14 November. For the first time the event will have a theme - 'Designing our Future'.
