NEW REGIONAL CENTRE FOR THE VISUAL ARTS, BURY ST EDMUNDS Expressions of interest are invited for a new competition to develop a regional centre for fine arts, crafts and design at the Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Selection of the architect will be by competitive interview. Deadline for expressions of interest is 13 June. Further information is available from the RIBA Competitions Office.

LANDMARK GALLERY, WAKEFIELD WATERFRONT Expressions of interest are invited for this new competition to design a prestigious and distinctive 'landmark' gallery on the waterfront in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Deadline for receipt of practice profiles is 17 June.

PANOPTICONS, LANCASHIRE This competition offers an opportunity for architects and artists to design a panopticon - a structure, space or device that provides a comprehensive or panoramic view - for three sites in the east Lancashire countryside.Their purpose will be aesthetic and functional - they can take the form of shelters, viewing platforms or beacons - and will be high-profile visitor attractions. The competition is open and runs in parallel with an 'ideas'competition for students.

Deadline is 10 June.

STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION Wood. for good. invites submissions for an open ideas competition, based on an imaginary inner city site. The competition is open to students of architecture and those in relevant associated disciplines (engineering, interior design, product design, etc). The submission deadline has been extended to September 2003.
