Expressions of interest are invited for this new competition to design a prestigious and distinctive 'landmark'gallery on the waterfront in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Deadline for receipt of practice profiles is 17 June.

This competition offers an opportunity for architects and artists to design a panopticon - a structure, space or device that provides a comprehensive or panoramic view - for three sites in the east Lancashire countryside. Their purpose will be both aesthetic and functional - they may take the form of shelters, viewing platforms or beacons, and will be high-profile visitor attractions. The competition is open and runs in parallel with an 'ideas' competition for students.

Deadline is 10 June. Further details are available at www. ribacompetitions. com
