PANOPTICONS, EAST LANCASHIRE This new competition offers a unique and exciting opportunity for architects and artists to design a Panopticon - a structure, space or device providing a comprehensive or panoramic view - for three stunning sites in the east Lancashire countryside.
Their purpose will be both aesthetic and functional - they may take the form of shelters, viewing platforms, beacons, and will be high-profile attractions for local people and visitors. The competition is open, and running in parallel is an 'ideas'competition for students. The deadline for submissions is 10 June.
SURE START COMMUNITY BUILDING, COLCHESTER Expressions of interest are invited from architects who wish to work with the Sure Start Colchester Management Board on a new first resort centre for St Anne's ward in the east of Colchester. Selection will be by competitive interview.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 9 May.
FOOTBRIDGE, STOCKTON-ON-TEES Expressions of interest are invited for a competition to provide a concept design for a prestigious and distinctive 'landmark'bridge across the River Tees, commensurate with the high quality development proposals for Northbank. Deadline for practice profiles is 6 May.
