COCK-A-HOOP

ASTRAGAL

The titillating tale of the naughtily named Tickle Cock underpass has reared its head again. The project to revamp a railway bridge - part of the ongoing regeneration of Castleford, West Yorkshire - is being lovingly handled by Deborah Saunt of DSDHA.

Earlier in the year the scheme was splashed across the local rags when residents succeeded in changing the long-standing moniker of the underpass from the rather demure Tittle Cott Bridge back to its original, snigger-inducing title. The name Tittle Cott had apparently been created to discourage the hoi-polloi from needless vulgarity and spare the blushes of the 'Quality'.

However, Saunt has found the name is causing her unexpected problems. It seems the local council's email spam filter occasionally takes offence and has blocked Tickle Cock-related mail. . .
