Clash Architects has been commissioned to draw up proposals for this new hotel next to Newcastle's Central Station. The project will be the third hotel by Clash Architects for Sleeperz, a new architecture-focused hotel chain developing sites in partnership with Network Rail. The Newcastle hotel will occupy a prominent triangular site on Westgate Street, replacing the existing but derelict parcels shed. The hotel, which will enjoy views over the Tyne Bridge, will have a total of 104 bedrooms arranged over five floors, including 12 professional business units on the ground floor. Peter Clash, director of Clash Architects, said: 'This new development meets the expectations of the city and station environment and provides a key urban building at this pivotal site. Our scheme combines sensitivity to the context with a sense of renewal, ambition and confidence in the future of Newcastle.'
