Claridge Architects has won the go-ahead for this new classroom block for Thomas' London Day Schools preparatory school in Clapham, south London. The 350m 2 scheme, which will be known as Thomas' Reception Block, will sit behind the school's existing Grade II-listed building - the former Clapham County Girl's School, built in 1908. Timber-clad and with south-facing Kalwall facades, the £500,000 block will house Year One classrooms and four outdoor teaching spaces. The project, which will feature child-height windows overlooking the playground, is the practice's fourth for the private school. Practice founder Marcus Claridge expects the scheme to start on site in April 2007. Completion is due in September 2007.
