Broadway Malyan and engineering firm Buro Happold have started on site with this pedestrian bridge in Edinburgh.

Constructed from glass and an interlocking steel frame, it will link the St James shopping centre and a new development on Calton Hill.

The bridge spans one of the city's main arteries, Leith Street. It will stretch 47m and be supported by a series of slender columns.
