Two North American practices have seen off some of Britain's best-known offices in a highprofile competition in Vancouver.

Santa Monica's Moore Ruble Yudell Architects & Planners and Vancouver's Hughes Condon Marler Architects have seen off the likes of Richard Rogers, Zaha Hadid and Allies and Morrison to design a new University of British Columbia campus.
