I am pleased to reassure your readers that the Broadcasting House rebuilding project has not doubled in cost.

The project is proceeding well. Some of the building is already completed. Radio 2 moved in recently to its new home within the development and other parts of BBC Radio will follow soon. The building element of the first phase of the project is running behind schedule and has cost £20 million more than its budget but there are many more elements to the project and another five years to run before overall completion.

We are aiming to take steps to address both of these issues during that time.

John Smith, chief operating officer, BBC
