From the USA comes a sustainable and highly durable alternative to traditional hardwood that looks just like the real thing. The brainchild of wood modification technology company Chemco, Alowood is made using a combination vacuum and pressure injection process that replaces air and moisture in the wood with Everdex, a natural additive made from corn starch. The wood is then thermally cured in an oven, permanently locking in the additive, and can be sanded and planed just like any other hardwood. Alowood is suitable for floors, doors, windows and furniture and comes in a range of colours and finishes. Visit www. for more information.
