Arsenal gets a complex

Minister for Sport Kate Hoey has officially opened this new, state of the art training complex for Arsenal Football Club in Shenley, Hertfordshire.

The £4 million facilites were designed by Dearle & Henderson Design (d&hd ), and Richard Marshall Architects. They are the result of a club analysis of the best training facilities throughout Europe. The result is 10 playing and training pitches, a hydro-therapy pool, a steam room and massage baths, gym facilities, a refectory, media areas, treatment rooms and administration offices.

d&hd director Peter Fearon Brown said that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was 'heavily involved' in the design and content of the new training facilities, even down to the kitchens and controlling the diets of the players.

Dearle & Henderson Design already had links with the premier league club, having acted as project manager for Arsenal's ground at Highbury's new north stand and the eastern stand's refurbishment.
