Apt definition

Definitions of architecture have ranged from Vitruvius' 'commoditas, firmitas, venustas' to Banham's 'that which changes land use'. But a new one is proffered in an examiners' meeting at the aa, as 'that which creates resistance'. It apparently carries the requisite credentials to qualify for the new orthodoxy, which one wag sums up as 'Radical Propriety', a useful term now that Romantic Pragmatism is looking slightly tarnished.
