Alsop going Dutch

Alsop and Stormer is the only British practice to have been shortlisted to design a new £20 million national audiovisual archive last week in Hilversum, the principal media city of the Netherlands. The practice is competing against four others - Benthum Crouwel, Mecanoo, Neutelings Riedijk, and Architecten Cie - to design a 25,000m2 building housing the Netherlands Broadcasting Museum, public television and radio archives, a restaurant, shop and cafe, plus depots, viewing rooms, and offices. The building will be funded by the Dutch ministry of culture and a winner will be chosen in October.
