Serving as a comprehensive guide to the Retrofit Awards 2012, this publication provides an overview of the key schemes, broken down into chapters dedicated to each award category.

Within these categories, sit concise profiles of each of the shortlisted schemes, detailing the architect, project, client, cost and date of completion, followed by a summary outlining the main aims, any hurdles encountered, how these were overcome, and the success of the project.

Accompanying the complete shortlist is a detailed examination of the overall winner, as well as an in-depth profile of each category’s winning scheme.

An introduction by Paul Finch and interview with Arup global buildings retrofit leader Chris Joffe complement the piece by providing an insight into the importance of retrofitting at a time when architects must be increasingly mindful of reducing energy and waste, and creating sustainable buildings. Arup specialists also offer their analysis and reactions to the entries throughout.
