To celebrate the start of the academic year, the AJ Buildings Library showcases images, drawings and data for the UK’s best university buildings. Part 1 of 4: Libraries

The AJ Buildings Library contains 85 exemplar academic buildings from British universities. See images drawings and data for 10 academic libraries in the AJ Buildings Library ranging from iconic projects completed in the 1960s - such as Edinburgh University by Basil Spence and James Stirling’ History Faculty Library at Cambridge - to modern classics including the Ruskin Library by MJP.

The Grade II* Sheffield University Library mertits inclusion in the Library twice. Both the original building completed in 1959 by Gollins, Melvin, Ward & Partners and the conservation and upgrade of the building by Avanti Architects’ in 2009 are in the Library.

Over the coming month we will be showcasing a daily academic building based around the weekly building type, please let us know your favourites through Facebook and Twitter.
