AFL wins competition to design new stadium

Manchester-based stadium architect AFL has won the competition to design this new ground for Al Jazira Football Club in Abu Dhabi. The practice saw off rival bids from around the world, including entries from HOK Sport and France's Roger Taillibert, to scoop the first prize. The new £30 million, two-tier Mohamed Bin Zayed stadium will hold 40,000 spectators and will incorporate commercial office space and luxury apartments.
