. . .BUT DOES IT ALREADY KNOW THIS?

LETTERS

No monetary allowance could be expected to reect the value of the advice given by members of CABE's Design Review Panel, or the significant extent to which this advice improves emerging schemes in Britain (AJ letters 01.02.07). We have unqualified admiration and appreciation for those architects, engineers, planners, landscape architects and developers who choose to share their experience and knowledge with us - and whether an allowance is paid does not reect our attitude to the panel in any way. That said, it has been agreed that an allowance, in addition to the usual travel expenses, will be paid from April 2007 - a measure which, incidentally, we had planned long before Craig Douglas' letter!

Selina Mason, director of design review advice, CABE
