Fraser Brown MacKenna scoops Salvation Army contest

Fraser Brown MacKenna has won a competition to design a new community space for the Salvation Army in North London

Based in Barnet, the proposed building for the outfit’s Hendon Corps will provide a new multi-purpose hall and community space.

Proposals also include classroom and office spaces for a local nursery.

The practice were invited to compete in the competition following the completion of their facilities for the Salvation Army back in 2003.

In a statement the practice said: ‘The design gives prominence to space for worship and performance, with both the form and scale of the building reflecting the suburban setting of the site’.
