OBEs for Liddell, Bordass, and Riddlestone in New Year Honours

The New Year Honours saw three sustainability professionals recognised for their contribution to the industry

It can only be a good start to a new year in sustainable design, when not one, not two, but three key figures are recognised for their efforts.

The New Year Honours saw Bill Bordass recognised for his services to the architectural and engineering professions and to sustainable development.

Founder of Gaia International and the Scottish Ecological Design Association, architect Howard Liddell was recognised for services to ecological design and charity.

Bill Bordass set up the Usable Buildings Trust back in 2002, a charity dedicated to improving the performance of buildings in use. His work has been instrumental in helping to understand the importance of users and a building’s operation on energy efficiency.

Sue Riddlestone, co-founder of developer BioRegional, landed an OBE for services to sustainable business and to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
