Five things to do today: 28 January

Little Chef - The Place - Emperor Workstation - kids' lit - Motley fool

Little Chef
Heston Blumenthal's makeover of the Little Chef menu has had lot of coverage. But what about the building makeover? All that's fit to print including some images of the made-over Popham branch interior are here. Watch out for the blue-skies ceiling tiles.

The Place to dance
Since the hippy era, The Place has been the London venue for new dance. Currently it is running Resolution!, a selection of young dance talent from around the world. Unlike Sadlers Wells in London, everyone has a good seat and it's really cheap.

Emperor Workstation
One of the few outstanding items at the recent CES consumer electronics show in Las Vegas was the Emperor Workstation - presumably so named because it costs $40,000 and includes a three-screen display and heated seat with built-in surround sound sub-woofer. The only downside is that you can't drive it round the office.

Kids lit
The South Bank is running a Children's Literature Festival for the imminent school holidays called Imagine.

Motley fool
In the current financial turmoil, the would-be wise tune in to Motley Fool, one of the most respected independent money advice sites. Foolish name but sage advice – except perhaps under the recent headline 'Sell Your Body To Survive The Recession.'
