First look: Mather's Eastbourne gallery

The Towner, Eastbourne’s new art gallery designed by Rick Mather Architects, is set to open its doors to the public next weekend (4 April)

The £8.58 million seafront scheme, known as the Towner, houses a series of exhibition galleries, conference halls and a research and display facility, dedicated to the artist and designer, Eric Ravilious (1903-1942).

Funded by the Arts Council England, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the South East England Development Agency, Eastbourne Borough Council and The New Towner Trust, the building adjoins the Grade-II listed Congress Theatre (1963).
