Women in Sustainable Architecture: Sue Riddlestone

Sue Riddlestone co-founded BioRegional and as well as its One Planet Programme. Through this work, she has collaborated with many mainstream businesses to enable them to be more sustainable.
Riddlestone was a member of the Mayor of London’s Sustainable Development Commission. Her work there was instrumental in establishing the sustainability targets of London 2012. As part of the commission She set targets for London’s CO2 emissions and helped to write the One Planet Olympics sustainability strategy. Riddlestone has also advised the government on Ecotowns, and with CABE wrote the report What Makes an Ecotown?.
She said: ‘The aspiration closest to my heart is to really show in a coherent and irrefutable way what sustainable living and business looks like backed up with the social and economic case, so that everyone gives up being difficult and says “OK, let’s get on with it.”’
