The Royal Festival Hall, designed by Leslie Martin and Peter Moro, was the centrepiece of the 1951 Festival of Britain. The iconic building has been transformed by refocusing the original design ideas while making significant changes. In the auditorium, the acoustics, audience comfort and production flexibility have been improved. Foyer spaces have been expanded by clearing out clutter and moving the Southbank Centre offices into a new building and the external terraces have again become vibrant public spaces.

A stunning piece of work - sympathetic to the original intent of the design of the building whilst bringing a fresh perspective / new lease of life. The enhancements to it's technical performance as a concert venue are fantastic - essential for the RFH to be able to compete interntionally in the future.

The impact of the success of the rebirth of The Royal Festival Hall has spun off into the whole of the surrounding area - an ambition most architects would hope to achieve with any major work.
