AJ100 Awards: Glasgow-based practice Page/Park has won the sought-after Employer of the Year award for 2013

Candidates for the accolade, which is sponsored by Bespoke, are shortlisted on the basis of evidence in the survey that demonstrates staff satisfaction, workplace culture, benefits and staff turnover

Each practice is visited before the winner is chosen

Faced with a strong field of candidates for this year’s Employer of the Year award, the judges had a difficult task, but finally selected Page\Park.

The Glasgow-based practice transformed its business model last year, becoming an employee-owned company and, in the judges’ view, successfully tackling one of the thorniest issues for any practice with such an established brand: that of succession. Page\Park also stood out for its smart and friendly workplace, its highly transparent salary system and its small-business incubation strategy.

Noting the firm’s new model, based upon a roundtable diagram containing various overlapping activities with architecture at its core, one judge said: ‘It’s not your typical office structure and it’s really interesting to see how this has been graphically presented.’
