It's all too easy to be seduced by gadgets and gizmos, so those of us who don't want to throw our money away have to be cautious. The latest bit of kit may look cute, and it may impress your friends, colleagues and clients, but will it do what you want?

Sony's range of VAIO notebooks have always been top of the list for most desirable laptops, and since small and cute always has special appeal, the new compact VAIO Professional TZ Series is going to stir the acquisitive instinct.

Compact, but easy to use

To support your new mobile freedom the battery on the VAIO TZ will keep you going for up to seven and a half hours, which is further extended via an energy-saving/ green feature that allows certain functions to be shut down when not in use. For example, there is no need to enable windows if you are simply using the DVD player. In addition the battery is incorporated into the overall design of the notebook – as the hinge.

Also equipped with some decent processing power the TZ comes with the latest Intel® Centrino® processor technology, Genuine Windows Vista® Business, 2GB of RAM and up to120GB Hard Drive plus Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950, a pin sharp 11.1" X-Black LCD and a built in camera for video conferencing.

In addition the VAIO professional range is further complemented by the compact, 13.3" SZ Series, which also features VAIO 'Everwair' technology, the BX Series which features a detachable hard drive to allow further storage options when back at your desk and the AR Series which includes an integrated Blu-ray Disc™ player for additional storage and HD entertainment.

Whilst the above specs should be enough to ensure a sale, the TZ Series also boosts stylish looks as well – perfect for design conscious architects.  The TZ slips easily into a handbag, briefcase or backpack and weighs a mere 1.24kg.  State-of-the-art security is also of importance when working on the move and biometric Fingerprint Recognition and Trusted Platform Module file encryption mean that unauthorised access to your data is prevented, whilst Hard Disk Drop Protection protects your files if you accidentally drop your laptop.
