Exclusive footage of the award-winning sound system that 'mirrors the human brain'

The Fragmented Orchestra will play continually at 24 sites around the UK - simultaneously - for the next three months.

The below images and video were captured at the project's launch last Thursday at Liverpool's FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technolgy). The foundation acts as the hub of the project which combines sonic rhythms from around the nation to create a unique score.

The 24 locations - which range from football stadiums to Gloucester Cathedral - donate sound waves to each of the others, and also transmit the accumulated soundtrack.

The project by Jane Grant, John Matthias and Nick Ryan is modelled on the neural network of the human brain and collected this year's £50,000 PRS New Music Award. The exhibition is open until 22 February, 2009.
