The New Décor opens at the Southbank Centre

[PICTURES] The Hayward Gallery at the Southbank Centre plays host to a highlight of their Festival Brazil, The New Décor, an exhibition of pieces from 22 artists

An exploration into contemporary culture, The New Décor charts the efforts of 36 artists from 22 countries as they use interior design to map the changes in our culture.

Everyday objects ranging from bathroom sinks to bunk beds take on new and exciting forms. The aim is to delve into what exhibition curator Ralph Rugoff calls the ‘arena of practicality and imagination, theatre and everyday life’ through the clever use of familar furnishings in unexpected forms.
