As the great unwashed architectural public dives headlong into booze-soaked festive frivolity, let the gossip levels reach their seasonal climax. How’s this for starters: information has reached Astragal of a quite staggering decision; the social secretary at the RIBA (whoever he or she is) has decided that this year’s Christmas party for Portland Place staffers should be themed along the lines of cowboys and Indians. Think ol’ Jack Pringle in a Stetson or George Ferguson dressed as a Mohican. The mind boggles. Why would they do it to themselves? For the love of all that is good, why?! It’s enough to make even David Brent cringe.
