Northern lights

They certainly know how to throw a party in Leeds. Last year’s launch for Ian Simpson’s Lumiere skyscraper came with an assortment of fire eaters, tuxedoed dwarves and Del Boy lookalikes. Stephen George and Partners’ bash to celebrate moving into a new office in Park Place was no less spectacular. The Space-themed shindig featured a jazz band dressed as aliens, a 1980s space invader arcade machine, an astronaut and hostesses clad in silver. One architect admitted it was a ‘shameless ploy’ to get people talking about the burgeoning practice. Mission accomplished.
