Let's have a drink to celebrate

A great evening at the AR Emerging Architecture Awards on Thursday featured visits from many of the great and good of architecture. Spotted closeted away in one corner was Ian Ritchie, who seemed unusually chipper, and everyone’s favourite architecture critic Eddie Heathcoate. What could they have been nattering about? One can only guess. Also mooching at the back of the Florence Hall as Paul Finch dished out the gongs were those scions of the Richard Rogers Partnership, Ivan Harbour and Graham Stirk. An entertaining duo, both looked a bit shell-shocked, which is hardly surprising given the month they’ve had since Rogers revealed they were set to inherit his business. Both seemed more concerned about the prospect of the three-week booze-fest that architects enjoy during the festive period than any major commercial considerations. Fair play to ’em. And fair play to their livers.
