Just the ticket
Architect and impassioned Liverpool fan Paul Gregory is embarking on a battle not seen since David took on that hulking Philistine Goliath. For the Kopite has decided to take legal action against European football’s governing body Uefa over the recent Champions League final ticket debacle in Athens. Gregory was one of 3,000-5,000 Liverpool fans with genuine tickets who were denied access because their seats were taken by fans who had gained access with photocopied tickets or, as in some cases, no tickets at all. Gregory, who was attending his sixth European Cup final, was then crushed into a holding pen and tear-gassed by riot police, having paid £2,370 (hotel, flight and ticket) for the pleasure. It certainly doesn’t seem too difficult a task to grasp: ticket = entry. No ticket/fake ticket = no entry. Uefa president Michel Platini looks like he has another job of biblical proportions ahead of him – repaying the 5,000.
